MOTORING ACCIDENT
CAR CAPSIZES NEAR TE aWAMUTU. THREE OCCUPANTS INJURED. Three residents of New Lynn, while motoring from Te Kuiti to Auckland on Sunday afternoon, were involved in an accident on the State Highway, just at the foot of Taylor’s Hill, north of Te Awamutu. They were Mr and Mrs James Webster and Mrs Ida Ward, all of New Lynn. It appears that the accident was the result of a tyre bursting, and Mr Webster, who was driving, sought to get the vehicle quickly under control again, but it capsized, coming to rest upside down practically in the middle of the road. The sunshine roof apparatus at the top of the car was open, and two of the occupants were hurled through this as the car capsized. Help was quickly at hand, and a Te Awamutu medico, who was called, had them removed to a local private hospital. It was found that Mr Webster* had suffered abrasions, a lacerated ear, and shock; his condition was not regarded as very serious. Mrs Ward also sustained abrasions and shock, while her back was badly bruised. Her condition was also not regarded as serious; but Mrs Webster suffered concussion, with scalp wounds and shock, and last evening her condition occasioned anxiety; but this morning she was reported to be somewhat better, and it is anticipated there will be no complications regarding her complete recovery. The other two are making quite satisfactory progress this morning.
