GIRL GUIDES
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Th,e November meeting of the Te Awamutu Girl Guides Committee was held in the Parish Hall, Mrs C. G. Downes presiding. The report submitted by actingCaptain M. Ross was read as follows and adopted:— The number on the roll is 40, of which 4 are recruits. Since the last committee meeting 3 have completed their second class tests. The fallowing proficiency badges have been awarded: 4 pathfinders, 1 emergency helper, 7 athletic, 2 artist, 4 cyclist, 3 laundress, 3 domestic service, 5 cooks, and minstrel. On the 7th October, 24 Guides and 2 Brownies went to Hamilton with Mrs Bowler, and the Aeting-Lieuten-ant, Miss P. Snowden, for the purpose of the visit of the Provincial Commissioner, _ Mrs Watson, of Auckland. On Saturday, 28th October, we held a hike at Mr C. H. Cox’s propertv Bond’s Road, the patrols cooking their tea on open fires. A very enjoyable afternoon was spent. Mrs Bowler came through on the and enrolled 11 Guides. Miss Mandeno presented Joy Bevn with her All-round Cord. We do most heartily congratulate Joy on gaining this cord. Proficiency and second-class badges and service stars were also presented. The girjs presented Mrs Bowler with a crystal jug and sugar bowl in appreciation of her services to the company. Three Brownies “flew-up” to Guides that night. An endeavour will be made to arrange for a camp-fire reunion before the midsummer recess. It was decided that the Guides should resume in the second week in February. Plans were tentatively made for holding a Birthday Party early in 1940. Several other routine matters were attended to.
