WEDDING BELLS

OF LOCAL INTEREST. LINDBERG—(THOMPSON. A popular Te Awamutu district young lady, member of a very old local family, was the bride at a pretty wedding solemnised at the Church of Qur Lady/ of the Rosary, Hamilton, on Wednesday, 29th November. The officiating priest was the Rev. Father Bleakley, the bride was Miss Muriel Madeline Thompson, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. J. Thompson, Ohaupo Road, Te Awamutu, and the bridegroom was Mr John Leo Lindberg, second son of Mr and Mrs V. Lindberg, of Pukekawa, Tuakau. The bride was attractively attired in oyster satin cut on slim lines, with generous train; the draped neck-line finished with a posy of orange blossom; and she wore a satin appliqued veil of oyster- toning fashioned with a coronet of orange blossom and lilies. She Carried a shower .bouquet of roses, daisies, azaleas, sweet peas, lilies, and maidenhair fern. In attendance as bridesmaids were the Misses May Thompson (sister of the bride) and Ann Hollister, each wearing blush-pink chiffon with shirred fiont, puff sleeves, flowing skirt with godets- of many frills, and the top of each finished with a posy of flowers in self toning. Their shower bouquets were in pink toning of sweet pea, stock, azalea, daisies, and maidenhair fern. There were two little flower girls, Jean and Alma Foster (nieces of the bride), drqssed like the bridesmaids in miniature. On their heads they wore small haloes of flowers, with pink veils falling to the shoulders, and each carried a horseshoe formed of azaleas and maidenhair fern. Mt Q. Lindberg, brother of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man, Flight-Lieutenant K. Robinson was groomsman, and Messrs J. Linehan and R. Bathgate were ushers. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Centreway Tea Rooms, where the bride’s mother received her guests, numbering about one hundred, wearing a brown ensemble and accessories, with posy to match. The mother of the bridegroom wore a navy ensemble and accessories, with a posy to match. A feature of the wedding repast was a magnificent three tier wedding cake, which was much admired. The happy couple, who were the recipients of many handsome and useful gifts, including several substantial cheques, later left on their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a navy frock with coat to match. Mr and Mrs Lindberg will make their home at Pukekawa. ROTHERY—CORLETT. (Our Otorohanga Reporter.) A wedding of interest to Otorohanga and Te Kuiti district residents took place at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, Te Kuiti, last Saturday afternoon, when the Rev. Father Shore officiated. The contracting parties were Elsie, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Corlett, of Te Kuiti, and Brendon, eldest son of Mr and Mrs H. Rothery, of Otorohanga. The bride entered the church with her father, and looked very winsome in a smart ensemble of new teal, her bouquet being of lavender. The bridesmaids were Miss Doris Corlett (sister of the bride) and Miss Joan Rothery (sister of the bridegroom). They wore toning frocks of marina blue and tan and carried bouquets of blue and gold shades. Mr Rex Harford, of Auckland, was best man, and Mr Henry Rothery was groomsman. The largely-attended reception was held at the Tourist Tea Rooms, where the guests were received by the bride’s parents. Mirs Corlett wore a smart frock of cyclamen, with navy accessories, and she carried a posy of pansies. The bridegroom’s mother wore a smart black and white wool lace ensemble, with accessories to harmonise. She carried an armlet of beautiful seasonal blooms. The newlywedded couple left later on a motor trip to the Northland, Hot Lakes, and Bay of Plenty. The bride travelled in a frock, coat, and hat of marina blue, with navy accessories. They will make their home in the King Country.
