MOTOR-VAN ON FIRE

BRIGADE’S PROMPT RESPONSE. A PERSISTENT BLAZE. At 11 o’clock this morning an alarm of fire was sounded, and the Brigade made a prompt response. A motor van owned and operated by Wallace Supplies Ltd., and standing at the rear of the firm’s premises had become ignited. The fore part of the vehicle was well ablaze when the Brigade came on the scene, petrol and oil combining to otter a stubborn resistance. (Water and chemical extinguishers were used, but the fire persisted, and not until the petrol ran dry was the fire subdued.

The Brigade kept the tire back from the body-work of the vehicle, and when the flames subsided it was found that very little damage had been done to the vehicle itself.
