BUSY PLACE A car puffed laboriously along the road (or the place where the road was supposed to be) in a country district. Finally, the driver became discouraged when the boughs of overhanging trees threatened to stop his car even if he were able to pull through the slippery sea of mud. He saw a villager, and said to him: “You don’t'have many ears along this way, do you?” The man took plenty of time before he replied: "Certainly we do. What about it?’’ “How many have come past lately?’’ the driver asked. "Well,” replied the villager, “there was one last Christmas, and two the year before—and now you’re here.”
