ANNUAL MATCH WITH RODNEY. TO-MORROW’S- CONTEST. ' The annual match for the W.aipaRodney Cup will be played by the two sub-assoeiatipfi representative teams at Albert Park to-morrow; and in view of weather conditions the game should be fast and. open. . . The Waipa selectors have retained to a large extent tha team which made the trip to' Taumatuntri last week-end and which ■ will -take part in- the White Horse - Cup . competition in Auckland.. However the. team has been considerably strengthened, and spectators will, find plenty of action in the game to thrill" and interest them. The Waipa team should not experience the. short lapse of form which cost them the game against the King Country, as their failure was chiefly due to the inability Of the forwardsto settle down to any understanding. With the line lead by A. Spiers on Saturday they should be able to make the most of theit scoring opportunities. The other forwards are I. Shaw, . C. Keheley, C. Taylor arid J. Smith: and supported by a hard-working half line in D. Hancock, R. Hutson and R. Spiers they should severely test theRodney defence. The full-backs are S. Sinnott and B. Hawkins. Hawkins has been playing particularly well in club games and was a tower of strength to Waipa at Taumarunui. F. Battson in goal has only to produce his usual form to be a formidable- ; obstacle to Rodney. The Rodney team is as follows: E. Phillips, B. Andrews, H. Brooker, V. Shepherd, C. Aston, D. Thomson, E. ... Ashton, K. Meiklcjohn, S. Smith, J. Becroft, A. Henderson and reserve R. Dunning. There is a considerable nurhber nf new names among the Rodney players but Waipa. supporters will recognise enough of them to know that, the team contains the experience to, make a strong combination.
