TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO

AS REPORTED IN WAIPA POST, MAY 26th, 1914.

The local Young Men Institute opens its winter term to-night in the Oddfellows Hall. The Te Awamutu bachelors’ ball proved a most brilliant and successful function.

A meeting of the Waikato Hunt takes place at Mr C. J. Storey’s “Woodstock” estate on Wednesday. At Rugby, Te Awamutu and United drew, three pdints each; and at hockey Ohaupo and Rovers drew, without scoring. The erection of a modern picture theatre in Te Awamutu is contemplated by Auckland business men, who have been prosecuting enquiries quietly and are almost ready to announce their plans. The mains for the Te Awamutu water supply are now almost laid, and only Park Road, Sloane and College Streets yet require attention.
