BUY SCOUTS

GARDEN PARTY. A largely attended Garden Party was held in the grounds of the residence of Mr and Mrs H. C. Grierson, Honikiwi, with the object of raising funds to send three local Scouts to the World Jamboree to be held at Wellington in December next. A brisk business was done at the bring-and-buy stalls throughout the afternoon. Three recruits were selected by the Rev. W. S. Webber D. Morgan, Alister Rattray, and " Horace Kohi. They were duly invested and given badges and scarves. Scout Gordon Slatter, of the Ist Auckland Lone Scout Troop; Patrol-Leader Dorothy Carlin, and Guide Norah Slatter, of the 2nd Auckland Lone Guide Troop, were in attendance and were introduced to the gathering.

Demonstrations of knots, flag and staff drill, and rope tricks created interest, w’hile a medley of campfire songs with banjo accompaniment were enjoyed. A considerable net profit accrued from the Garden Party.
