Beauty Hints

FROM THE J

Jane Seymour

BEAUTY SALON

Advice on skin care and make-up specially written for the “Te Awamutu Courier” by Miss Myrtle Cochrane Jane Seymour’s own London trained beauty expert in charge of the Jane Seymour Beauty Salon, 47 Queen Street, Auckland.

CANDID QUESTIONS! This Week we are really going to test ourselves by having a “candid communication corner.” i am going to give you a list of questions and hope that most of my readers will get down to some really serious thinking’ when answering them to yourselves and ■with your friends. 1. Do you cleanse your skin thoroughly every night before retiring? 2. Do you always help your skin to have that well cared for look by pat; ting in a good skin food nightly? 3. Do you leave yourself ample time to apply your make-up correctly before leaving for business in the mornings ?

4. Do you give your skin a really good weekly “do”. That is—cleanse the face. Massage with good skin food. Cleanse this off with tissues. Apply a- facial mask. Cleanse off—brace skin with skin tonic or astringent as the case may be? 5. Do you care for your hands and nails by giving them a weekly manicure and by massaging them with really good hand cream. Hands play a very important part in the makeup of the well groomed woman. 6. Do you bathe your eyes every morning with an eye lotion, to keep them beautifully clean and shining ? 7. Do you brush your hair for at least twenty minutes each day and do you have it shampooed and set weekly? 8. Do you always keep your eye- | brows trim and tidy, never allowing that shaggy appearance? 9. Do you, when ready to go out, stand in front of your mirror and check up on your appearance? 10. Are you one of the people who patch up old make-up because . you feel that you haven’t enough time to give yourself a fresh make-up.

Having answered all these questions, taking four marks’for all those truthfully answered with “yes” you can add up and the result should be like this:

40 marks—Excellent. Keep it up—it always pays. 30 marks—lntentions good, but you are slightly erratic. Concentrate a little more.

20 marks—Room for lots of improvement, so start right away. 10 marks —Lines and wrinkles will be your worries in two or three years. Don’t 'allow this. REPLIES TO I CORRESPONDENTS. I am so pleased to have had so many letters sent me through, this paper and am always glad to help all I can with any beauty problems. “Coral”, Your complaint about pimples and sores is a very frequent one. Firstly, you must get your blood into condition as this is the outcome of your worry. Improper cleansing will cause very nasty pimples also the use of incorrect preparations, the use of incorrect prepar-

ations. You will have to be pre- j

pared to set aside a little time | every day to the caring of your g skin and I’m sure you will find >. that in a very short space of Q time you will see a tremend-

ous improvement. If you will z send me a stamped addressed £ envelope I will be very pleased < to give you a list of the neces- § sary preparations and also will enclose a diet chart.

“SKIN-CONSCIOUS” “Martha”, You sound so very disturbed about your skin and rightly so because there is no more awful feeling than that “Skin Conscious” feeling. However, I don’t want you to worry because if you will carry out the instructions I give you, all will be well, I feel sure. May I say that I do not believe in this drastic steaming. Steaming improperly done can be most injurious to the skin. The black heads are a very easy matter, .Ito be got rid of. I will give you full particulars as to the home treatment if you will write to me. I also advise you to have a skin food which will nourish the underlying tissues without adding to the oiliness of the skin. If you will mention this “Grease-skin Cream” in your letter, I can give you instructions as to how to apply it. You have little to worry about if you carry out a regular treatment.

“GREASY SKIN” “Gloria”, Your greasy skin is easily remedied, and if you will allow me to send you the preparations for greasy skin. If you write to me I will tell you exactly how to apply each of these preparations. Your open pores will be improved very quickly with these Greaseskin Preparations and

with the use of pore cream on the porous part, every night. You will be delighted with the rapid results. Send me a stamped addressed envelope and I shall 'be pleased to help. “ACNE SPOTS” “Dawn”, I feel 1 have answered your problem in the reply I have given to “Gloria”. For your acne spots go to your Chemist and buy yourself a bottle of acne lotion. Ap-

ply it to the spots every night after cleansing and also use this lotion as a foundation ovei’ the spots during the day. MAKE-UP COLOUR GUIDE.
