Revenue earned from sales of current by the Te Awamutu Electric Power Board during the month of March totalled £3579 10s lid, made up of: Lighting, heating and cooking £2044 8s 7d; power £1462 14s Id; penalties and sundries £33 8s Bd, and street lighting £3B 19s 7d. For March, 1938, the revenue was £3256 Os Id.
Criticism of the present cattle dipping regulations was expressed at the Auckland Provincial Conference of the Fanners’ Union last Friday, when a remit advocating the removal of the regulations was carried unanimously. Conference also decided, to ask the Government to take over any outstanding liabilities on dips.
Reporting to last Friday’s meeting of Te Awamutu Electric Power Board the secretary-manager (Mr D. T. BMcArthur) stated that some of the mercury vapour lamps for the business area of Te Awamutu had come to hand, but certain necessary fittings were awaited. He added that he would like to confer with the Borough Council’s special committee before the location for each light was decided upon. Thereafter the work would be executed with all possible dispatch.
The. work of the Court of Review, which was first constituted under the Rural Mortgagors’ Final Adjustment Act, and which started its task in May, 1935, is now nearly completed. Over 15,000 applications and appeals have been attended to and the total value runs into some millions of pounds. The Court conducted its last sittings? in Hamilton last week and after completing its work in Auckland will leave for Whangarei for its final sitting.
