NATIONAL PARTY
FUNCTION AT KORAKONUI. SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. Th e National Party’s funds were augmented to the extent of over £6O by the united efforts of the Korakonui and Wharepuhunga branches last Saturday. The function took the form of a bazaar held at the Korakonui Hall. There was a large attendance of residents from the surroundingdistricts who teadily assisted the stallholders to dispose of the varied array of produce, etc. Mombers of the committee arranged competitions and sideshows which proved both popular and profitable. A dainty afternoon tea was provided, while races, ice creams, and a brantub were very popular with the children.
The tireless efforts of the organiser, Mrs N. M. Lethbridge, and her committee were very much appreciated, and thoroughly deserved the enthusiastic response made by all present. The chairman of the local branch of the National Party, Mr W. S. Hopping, thanked the committee, particularly the ladies, who were mainly responsible for the success of the function, and all those present for their gratifying response. The winners of the various competitions are as follows: Turkeys: Mr E. H. Cucksey. Goslings: Mr W. Swain. Lamb: Mr F. Palmer. Doll: Jill Muir. Chocolates: Jean Miexted.
Pullover: Mr B. McDonald. Golf balls: Billy Kay. Weight guessing (pig): Mrs Lethbridge; (lamb): Mr S. Fleming. Ladder golf: Mr F. Terry. Pea-shooting: Mr W, Campbell.
