Cattle: Our offering in the ox beef sections was an average one, and consisted mostly of light and unfinished beef. Competition for quality sorts was good the market remaining film. Second quality beef however, met with a slow sale due to the heavy supply, values consequently showing a marked decline. Competition for store and boner cows was good, also a slight easing in values was noticeable. Sheep: Our offering in the fat sheep section was only a medium one, the offering showing an improvement on quality on recent sales. Competition was good early in the sale, but tended to slacken off somewhat towards the end. We quote: Fat wethers 26s 6d to 28s 6d; fat ewes 22s 6d to 24s 6d; lighter 16s 6d to 19s; medium weight fat lambs 18s 6d to 20s 6d.

Pigs: The yarding of fat pigs was a small one, finished porkers and baconers meeting with keen competition with values remaining firm, while light baconers and porkers showed a slight increase in values. We quote: Prime heavy baconers £4 3s to £4 7s; medium £3 14s to £3 18s; light £3 8s to £3 12s; unfinished and heavy porkers £2 17s to £3 6s; medium porkers £2 8s to £2 15s; light £1 18s to £2 ss; unfinished £1 10s to £1 16s; store pigs were yarded in fair numbers, competition generally being good with slips and weaners realising slightly higher prices than those of last week. Large store pigs did not elicit as much competition as recent sales, values showing a slight drop. H. Hall. Karapiro: The cattle came forward in good order and were offered before a large bench of buyers. Competition for good type pedigree-Ayrshire! cows was very keen but plainer sorts did not elicit such free bidding. Other sales were 20i guineas for “Wainui Stylish,” and there, were a number of sales made from twelve to fifteen guineas. Plainer sorts realised from six fro ten guineas.
