POINTS OF VIEW
FOOTBALL CONTROL. Sir, —Let me hurry to call attention to a matter that affects the success of the Waipa Rugby Union, in the hope that improvement will result. I refer to spectators encroaching on the sidelines at Albert Park. Saturday after Saturday the trouble has become worse, until last Saturday the referee in the senior match had to stop play and himself order the spectators to keep back. It should never have been necessary for the referee to take action. What are the Union officials for? From long observation, my impression is that their chief objective is to get the best view themselves of a game in progress. Why not carry out the obvious, and prevent anyone staying inside the barriers except the line umpires and the groundsmen who are on duty? I am sure you will agree with me that there is need for improvement on present methods. —J am, etc., REGULAR PATRON.
