Nearly forty people attended the weekly gathering of Te Awamutu Cribbage Club last evening, when a very pleasant time was spent. On this occasion the winners were Mrs Arthur Wood and Mr W. Old. As usual the dainty supper supplied by the ladies was much enjoyed. The facial eczema epidemic has had a serious effect on the number of farm labourers out of work, according to advice received from the Hamilton placement officer, Mr J. D. Hislop. He said that while it was usual for the demand for farm workers to ease at this time of the year, the number of men now on the unemployed list was well above the usual total. To the disastrous effect of the epidemic could be attributed in no small measure the present large total of agricultural workers without employment. The Auckland placement officer, Mr J. R. Elsbury. has stated that there are 80 farm labourers in the city without work.
