WOMEN’S DIVISION
PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE. ANNUAL MEETING. (Our Otorohanga Reporter.) The Northern King Country Provincial executive of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union held its annual meeting in the Municipal Hall, Te Kuiti, and it was largely attended by delegates from the various branches throughout the territory. Mrs C. K. (Wilson (Pio Pio) presided, and the general secretary, Mrs Cullen, was in attendance. The executive arranged to send 20 junior members to attend the educa tional classes arranged by the Aucklend executive. They will be under the care of Miss D. Walker, and while in Auckland will stay at the Y.W.C.A. Hostel.
The housekeeping secretary, Mrs W. A. Lee (Waitomo), who had rendered yeoman services during her five years of office, resigned, and her resignation was received with keen regret. In her report, Mrs Lee stated that 48 housekeepers had been provided in cases of sickness and urgent need. It was found difficult to secure housekeepers, notwithstanding the pay was 30s per week, and found—with a fortnight’s holiday each year. The president, on behalf of the branches, presented Mrs Lee with a handsome dock, as a token of appreciation and esteem for the kindly and conscientious manner in which she had carried out her manifold duties.
Reports were received from delegates of the various branches, all disclosing satisfactory results of the year’s working. The funds of the Community Chest were augmented by £2O from Otorohanga, the largest branch, with a membership of 158. Smaller sums were donated from other branches.
The election of officers for the present year resulted as follows:—President, Mrs C. K. Wilson (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mesdames W« A. Lee, C. Irvine (Otorohanga) and Miln (Te Ang'a); secretary, Mrs Cullen (reelected) ; delegates to the annual conference at Wellington, in July, Mesdames Irvine (Otewa) and Brown (Pururu). .
Owing to the difficulty of getting someone to take over the housekeeping secretaryship, Mrs Irvine consented to act temporarily, in conjunction with Mesdames Peterson (Maihiihi) and Pye (Whawharua).
