TE AWAMUTU CRICKET ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive of the Te Awamutu Cricket Association was held on Wednesday evening, when there were present Messrs M. Barnett, A. Gell, Mulligan, J. Nielson, H. Ellison, G. D. Lawrie and Messrs Arnold and Rust, representing the Te Mawhai and Parawera schools respectively. Mr Barnett reported that the Albert Park ground vzas expected to be ready for play on Saturday of this week. Mr C. Mulligan was appointed the Arohena Club’s delegate. It was decided, after, consideration, to arrange a friendly competition during the holiday season, for which the draw was:

Saturday, January Bth: Arohena v. Tokanui; Te Awamutu v. Nomads. Saturday, January 15th: Arohena v. Te Awamutu; Nomads v. Tokanui. Saturday, January 22nd: Arohena v. Nomads; Tokanui v. Te Awamutu. The secretary was instructed to pay the affiliation fees to the Waipa Association for five teams.

It was agreed that club, competitions be continued when representative matches arc being played, and the secretary was instructed to write to the Otorohanga and Te Kuiti Associations seeking matches. Discussion arose over the plan for fostering school cricket and the chairman welcomed Messrs Arnold and Rust, also announcing apologies for absence from Father O’Flynn (Convent), and Messrs Harre (Kihikihi), Fletcher (Ohaupo), Smith (Kakepuku), and N. Oram (Paterangi). Mr Barnett briefly outlined the scheme suggested, and Mr Rust said that while he favoured some such scheme for fostering inter-school cricket matches, he regretted that ire could not see his way clear at present to enter into the scheme. After further discussion it was decided to defer the matter for the time being. The secretary vzas instructed to write to the Minister of Education pointing out that the Association was endeavouring to organise school cricket throughout the Te Awamutu district, serving ail schools within a radius of fifteen miles, in which there are twenty-two schools, centralised on Te Awamutu. Teachers generally are in favour of the project, but there are staffing difficulties! It was suggested that the country schools be equipped with the same amenities as are available to city schools. OTOROHANGA TEAMS. The following are the selected Oto rohanga Nomads to play the Waikato Times' team, on the Otorohanga Island Reserve next, week-end: Cameron (2), Larsen, Fairbrother (2), J. Frew, Riddolls, Dalziel, J. Clarke, Sanders, Corbett, G. Rogers, W. Rust. The contest, Ohl Boys v. Natives, resulted in a win for the former on the first innings.
