SPORTING NOTES

ROTORUA HUNT MEETING. PROSPECTS FOR TO-MORROW. The only race meeting this weekend in the Auckland province is that of the Rotorua and Bay of Plenty Hunt Club, at Rotorua, and if the weather continues favourable there should be a very successful meeting. Of the ten acceptors for the Hunters’ Hurdles, Mio Lume is the topweight with 10.10. All the rest are on the minimum. If one is to beat Mio Lume it may be Little Anglia or Illumaid; both have fair speed and are said to be good jumpers. However, the whole field should be very tired in the concluding stages. Free Advice, Tahae Mea and Raceline look like being best supported in the Innovation Hack Handicap. Highland Queen might be in the money. Sandrift, Diacquedoon and Holly Lu. will probably be supported in that order for the Highweight Handicap, judged on running at the Waikato Hunt meeting. Simint is in great order, and won both hurdle events at Whangarei. Huskie and Philemup, at the top of the handicap in the Hack Cup, are sure to be in demand, and there may also be good support for Brown Lap and Kena. Cometariam is an improver, but would be better suited in less pretentious company. The big- event is the Hunt Club Cup. in which the favourites should be Adsum, Cordon and (if reserved) Simint. Grantham has fair performances, but found three miles rathet far; however, he may be better able now to run that distance decently. Most of the acceptors for the Ladies’ Bracelet are in earlier events, and their support will depend largely on their showings there. Winlona, and Miss Te Koura should be the favourites in the Master’s Hack Handicap, with support for Ellanui and Racsline. The sprint event that closes the day’s racing should see Merial and Mlungacre very hard to oust from favouritism. Sergia and Rona Bay i are in good form, but they would probably do better over at least seven furlongs. Tray Bit and Sinking Fund will be the most difficult for the two first-named to dispose of.
