TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report as follows on their Te Awamutu stock sale held on Thursday:— Cattle: The fat pens were well filled, and included several pens of heavyox beef, while a good part of the entry comprised choice quality fat cows and heifers. Light and unfinished cows were heavy supply, while a large number of potter bulls were handled In addition, the advertised store steers, as well as a number of pens of cows and calves, a few pens of yearling heifers, and a small yarding of dairies were yarded. Beef values improved on last Tuesday’s realisations, and the market was very brisk throughout, all changing hands. Store cattle met with steady competition and prices were stable at ruling quotations. The few dairies commanded satisfactory competition, while potter bulls advanced sharply. We quote: On account of Mr W. C. Murphy, a line of seven heavy S.H. bullocks from £lO 7s 6d to £ll 2s 6d; on account of Mr L. R. Kay, nine prime S. H. bullocks realised £l2 and £l2 2s; Mr C. S. Alexander obtained £lO 3s for a draft of lighter steers. The top price for fat cows was realised for two prime S.H. sold on account of L. R. Kay at £lO Is each. Mr James Freegard was the Vendor of heavy cows up to £9 2s 6d; prime S.H. bullocks £lO 7s 6d to £l2 2s 6d, light up to £lO 3s; heavyfat cows £8 15s to £lO Is, good quality S.H. fat cows £7 10s to £8 10s; heavy Jersey cross cows £6 5s to £7 10s, medium fat cows £4 15s to £6, unfinished £3 5s to £4 10s, young empty cows £2 12s 6d to £3 2s 6d; stores and boners up to £2 10s, extra heavy potter bulls £8 Ms to £ll ss, good quality ■io £6 to £7 15s, medium dairy cows £5 to £6, medium 2-year mixed coloured store steers £6 7s 6d to £B, Jersey cow with calves £4 5s to £4 19s, good yearling heifers £4 18s to £5 9s. Sheep: The entry was a comparatively light one but all classes were entered. ?rices were firm and bidding was brisk throughout. Heavy prime hoggets made £1 5s to £1 10s 9d, good quality fat wethers £1 2s 6d to £1 6s, heavy ewes 19s 9d to £1 2s, heavy lambs £1 2s 6d to £1 4s 6d. Pigs: Record numbers came forward in the fat section and there was a consistently strong tone to the bidding right through. Although the majority were medium baconers and porkers, heavy bacon pigs were well represented. In both sections prices were fully equal to the best of recent quotations. Only moderate numbers of stores and weaners came forward and while large stores sold well, weaners were not particularly sought after, but values were maintained. We quote: Heady baconers £3 5s to £3 13s, medium do £2 15s to £3 2s 6d, light £2 7s 6d to £2 14s, heavy porkers £1 9s to £2 6s, light to £1 18s, best store pigs £1 6s to £1 Ils 6d, medium £1 Is to £1 ss, slips 16s to £1 Is, weaners up to 15. PIRONGIA STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited, Hamilton, report as follows on their Pirongia sale held on Wednesday:—Owing to harvesting operations the yarding was smaller than customary. Heavy quality cows were scarce and light Jerseys, stores and boners accounted for practically the entire yarding. Competition was firm and values remained about equal to those of Frankton on Tuesday last. All entered sold. We quote: Good quality fat Jersey cows £3 15s to £4 13s, medium to unfinished quality fat Jersey cows £3 5s to £3 15s, good store conditioned cows £2 12s 6d to £3 2s 6d, medium stores £2 4s to £2 Ils, rough boners 32s 6d to £2, potter bulls, heavy, £3 15s to £5 10s, others up to £3 10s.
