CHRISTIAN OPINION
A GREAT MORAL ISSUE. “The conviction of dee/p moral fault in the life of the community has been felt for long by some, but they have so far failed to convince the great body of Christians that they see rightly. These critics have been chiefly those who have embraced the collective principle, and their proposals would involve changes which are deeply repugnant on religious grounds to the greaft body of Conservative and Liberal Christians. On the Conservative side there is a very djeep religious resistance to any changes which would rapidly and fundamentally alter the pattern of our national life, and on the Liberal side there is a deep religious conviction in favour of a maximum individualism in every side of life—though both may be aligned with the purely selfish individualism of vested interests. The unresloved conflict between these religious convictions has been paralysing the public life of this country, for it prevents the- weight of Christian opinion being thrown successfully into any scale. -Mr Malcolm Spencer in the “Christian "Wjorld.”
