AS REPORTED IN THE WAIPA POST ON 27th OCTOBER, 1911. Tenders are called for the erection of the Coronation Band Rotunda at Victoria Park. The local School Committee is planning improvements at the school grounds. It is proposed to level the back portion of the grounds, and a considerable amount of earth will have to be shifted. On Sunday a valuable team of horses belonging to Mr H. Rothery, contractor for the Hauturu Road, were drowned in the Waipa River. An attempt was made to ford the flooded river, with disastrous results. Kihikihi Town Board is considering a lighting system for the Town Hall. It is anticipated that work will soon be started with the Wlaikeria buildings now that the first section of the Tokanui Mental Hospital is in the tenderiiig stage. Two sections in the Teasdale Settlement were balloted for at the Land Board office, Auckland, yesterday, and event to Miss Sketchley and Mrs C. Todd. The contractor for the post office buildings has received advice that the plans of the clock tower are now ready.
