The supplementary roll of the Waipa county states the valuation of the county lands at £1,615,764. At the weekly bridge tourney last Friday the prizes were won by Mrs Henderson and Mr B. F. Chester.
A proposal is advanced to form a Croquet Club in Te Awamutu. Hockey teams for the cup match are: Douglas, Ansell, C. Davis, T. Davis, H. Kay, Archibald, Allright, Jack, Anderson, Dwen, and Taylor; and Cox, Moeller, Verner, Dil, Smedley, Robinson, Reekie, North, Phillips, Walsh, and Wood. The Tennis Club committee has adopted a proposal to shift the courts to Victoria Park.
The Town Board is making application to the Government for a loan of £20,000 —for water supply £15,000, sewerage £2500, and streets £2500. Lawson and Swain held their first produce sale last Saturday.
A fund has been opened for a Coronation band rotunda at Victoria Park, and already £39 4s 6d has been subscribed; £lOO is needed, and the Government subsidy will be £75. The Rangiaohia Road Board (D. Cavanagh, chairman) has appointed J. Reilly grader at 37s 6d per day, employee to find the teams. Mr Frank Potts asked assistance in the matter of the Old Mill Road, which he said would reduce the distance between Te Awamutu and Cambridge by 6 miles. The sum of £6 was voted.
At a meeting of tjie Kawa Drainage Board on Saturday (Mr Geo. Kay, chairman) Mr D. Bockett was appointed clerk. At Te Kawa a complimentary social was held last week to farewell Messrs Ramsey, O’Donnell, and Fivey, who are leaving the district.
