TE MAWHAI SOCIAL

WELCOME TO HEAD TEACHER. A large and representative gathering of settlers and parents assembled at the Te Mawhai Hall last Wednesday evening to welcome Mr and Mrs B. Arnold and family, Mr Arnold having taken up his duties as head master at the Te Mawhai school. During the evening Mr J. Murtagh, chairman of the School. Committee, in a very neat speech welcomed Mr and Mrs'Arnold, and hoped that their stay in Te Mawhai would be a very happy one. Mr Arnold suitably replied. Opportunity was also taken to welcome Miss H. Schmidt, the assistant mistress, who was appointed last term. Miss Schmidt also suitably replied. A very enjoyable evening was spent in dancing, interspersed with musical items, solos being rendered by Mrs G. Ramsay, Mrs W. Struthers and Messrs Gage, Perrott and Bruce. Mrs Perrott was the accompanist. The dance music was supplied by Mr M. Wilson and Mr W. Bruce.
