WOMEN’S DIVISION
TE AWAMUTU BRANCH. The August meeting of the local branch of the Women’s Division was held in the Parish Hall, the president (Mrs W. G. Neill) occupying the chair. The attendance was excellent. Nine new members were enrolled. Parcels of clothing were acknowledged from Te Awamutu Girl Guides and the Korakonui branch of the Women’s Division, and the articles will be used for welfare work. Parcels have been forwarded to outlying branches. Miss G. B. Ryburn gave a very interesting demonstration of the dainty darjener work on tea showers, and this was watched with very keen interest. Dr L. S. Rogers’ lecture on hydatids was very instructive, and members were privileged to learn of the preventive measures to combat this aisease. The speaker appealed to all to assist in what is a national responsibility. Mrs T. N. Nicholson rendered a pianoforte selection, and appreciation vas expressed by acclamation to the demonstrator, speaker, and entertainer. Hairini and Te Rahu members kindly dispensed afternoon tea.
