AS REPORTED IN' THE WAIPA POST ON Ist SEPT., 1911. A photograph of the Timaru post office clock which is under offer to Te Awamutu is on display, and is creating considerable interest. The full cost of the clock and tower will be £BOO, and a £2OO local contribution is asked. St. John’s Church ladies are promoting a fund to purchase a new church organ. “Saxons” (5) beat “Normans” (2) at hockey on Wednesday. Goals were scored for the former team by Kay (2), Anderson (2), and Dill (1). The latter team’s points were secured by Cox. Mr S. A. Empson was referee. A survey party under Mr R. S. Galbraith has commenced operations on a block of 25,000 acres of virgin country at Wharepuhunga. Another party under Mr Edgecumbe is to take the field in the same locality lyAt Pirongia news of the death of the youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs' F. Harris has occasioned widespread sympathy with the bereaved parents. Officers elected at the annual cricket club meeting included: President, Mr W. G. Park; vice-presidents, Messrs A. S. Wallace, H. Luks, and M. S. Laurte; secretary, Mr J. H. Ansell. On Wednesday a serious accident occurred when Mr J. Humby, while driving the waggon of the Waipa Brewery Company, was thrown from the vAiicle and run over. At a meeting of the Kihikihi Domain Board the Progress League complained that the kissing gate at the domain was erected at the wrong place.
