CAMBRIDGE STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report as follows on their Cambridge stock sale, held on Monday:—Fat and store cattle: A full yarding comprised -a good proportion ot heavy S.H. and Jersey fat cows, large numbers of forward conditioned and store cows and a few pens of yearling heifers. The beef cows sold under lively competition while, if anything, values for stores and boners appreciated. The yearling heifers were mostly plain sorts, but nevertheless sold very well. For all classes a complete clearance was effected. We quote: Heavy fat S.H. cows £7 10s to £8 7s 6d, medium quality do £6 5s to £7 10s, heavy Jersey cows £4 15s to £5 10s, medium quality beet cows £3 15s to £4 10s, light do £3 to £3 10s, good conditioned £2 5s to £2 17s 6d, heavy boners 38s to £2 4s, medium yearling Jersey heifers £2 15s to £3 7s. Dairy cows: A heavy yarding was handled. Generally speaking, however, the quality was only average, although a few choice sorts were included. A large bench of buyers were operating and a good sale throughout ensued. As customary, good class Jerseys close to profit elicited the keenest competition, but for all classes the sale was most satisfactory. We quote: Best young Jersey cows due August £8 to £9 ss, good conditioned August-September calvars £6 5s to £7 15s, good quality springing Jersey heifers £6 5s to £7 ss, medium cows and heifers £4 15s to £5 15s, backward and inferior to £4 Ids. Pigs: Stores and weaners improved materially in value. The entry was of about the usual size, and apart from a few porkers all were store pigs. We quote: Light porkers 37s 6d to £2 ss, medium do £2 6s to £2 12s 6d, best store pigs 31s to 33s 6d, good do 28s to 30s, medium 25s to 27s 6d, best, slips 19s to 245, good weaners 15s to 18s, others to 14s. Sheep: A small entry of fat hoggets only were sold. Prices were equally as high as recent Frankton quotations. We quote: Extra heavy fat hoggets 24s to 265, medium do 22s to 245, light up to 21s 6d.
