TE AWAMUTU POWER BOARD. ENGINEER'S AND INSPECTOR’S REPORTS. At the meeting of the Te Awamutu Electric Power Board on Friday, the following reports by the engineer (Mr E. Bryant) and inspector (Mr A. J. Tailby) were presented: ENGINEER’S REPORT. Poles: Forty silver pine poles were received, and these were unloaded, carted and stacked at yard dump. Twelve ironbark poles were received and these were stacked at railway dump. Twenty-seven poles were carted and erected. Seventeen of these were used on construction and ten on maintenance.

Lines: Eighteen chains of 7-16 B.Cu. were erected on low tension lines to supply a new conusmer. Repairs were made to lines that were damaged during the storm. Lines were patrolled at Ohaupo, Kaipaki, Te Rore, Paterangi, Pokuru and the borough.

Transformers: One 3 k.v.a. transformer was replaced with a 7J k.v.a. on account of increased loading. A total of 650 gallons of oil were dehydrated. The Puniu circuit transformers are being dried out. Static condensers: Two static condensers were dismantled and repaired. Power supply: An exceptionally high peak was recorded on ,30th ult. at 5.30 p.m. The load was 1428 k.v.a. at .968 p.f. This day was very cold and being sale day very little diversity between milking domestic load was experienced. Street lighting: Two street lambs at Kihikihi, one at Pirongia and two in the borough were replaced. Community lighting: One community lamp was reconnected and eleven lamps were replaced. Service lines: Twenty-two service lines were erected and a number were altered and repaired. Eight services were disconnected and four re-con-nected.

Trees that were a hazard to lines were trimmed or cut down in various districts. Since the last storm the owners of trees that are a hazard to lines on the Plrongia-Te Rore Road were interviewed, and I am pleased to report that every one has agreed to cut them. I intend to interview each owner throughout the district, and r if the response is the same as the Te Rore Road, line faults will be considerably eliminated.

Transport: The vehicles travelled 5961 miles during the month. General: On the 2nd inst. a severe gale was experienced in the district, and did considerable damage to the lines by branches of trees breaking and falling on them. This trouble will be encountered as in the past until the trees are removed. A greater amount of damage was done than in the February gale, and it will be some time before every line is overhauled. I again express my appreciation of the good work done by the outside staff during a very trying time and the long hours worked by them, which in some cases amounted to 25 hours. There were 132 calls and the vehicles travelled 1437 miles on the 2nd inst. The usual fault work has been carried out. INSPECTOR’S REPORT.
