A farewell social was held in the Library on Thursday last in honour of Mr and Mrs G. Watkins. There was a good attendance and a happy time was spent by all. Games, community singing, competitions and cards comprised the programme, and during the evening Mr G. Bainbridge expressed the feelings of the community at losing such a popular young couple. He wished them the best of health and prosperity in their new home and surroundings, -and asked them to accept a fireside chair as a memento of pleasant associations in Pirongia. Mr Watkins suitably replied. A tasty supper was served by the ladies, and after the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” the party was brought to a close.
