A MORGUE

WANTED IN TE AROHA During the hearing at the inquest on Thursday upon the body of a man found in the Waihou river, Constable! Monson drew the Coroner’s attention to the necessity of a morgue, as it was not right to ask doctors to make an examination on a dead body under the present insanitary* and unsatisfactory conditions. The Coroner (Mr J. Motley) quite agreed that some better arrangement s ou d be made, as our medical men v were sometimes called upon to perorm an unpleasant public duty, and it was only proper that their health and lives should be safeguarded as much as possible. The remedy, however, lay with the looal body to provide a suitable building, but now pubtlc att ention had been drawn to the matter probably the Borough Council would take steps and have removed what at present is a reproach to the town. .!•
