LORRIES AND LITERATURE DRIVERS THREATEN LEGAL ACTION ' ; ■} The Hamilton correspondent of the “Auckland Star” telegraphs: A letter threatening legal proceedings unless a public apology is published within seven days was read at a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce ‘from a Humber of lorry drivers, who alleged that they had been libelled by members ox the Chamber, who has stated that Ihey had seen lorry drivers reading novels when they should have been doing their work. They contended that such statements would act to their detriment, should they ever seek employment elsewhere. The letter was formally “received” amidst laughter, the chairman, Mr A. M. Bisley, remarking that if .anyorie wanted to prove the truth of the remarks they only need go> to the station yard and see things for themselves. Another member considered it \was a fault of system rather than of the men themselves. If men in authority saxy drivers reading on their lorries and ./took no steps to fctevCnt them, then the men could hardly be blamed/
