ENGINEER’S REPORT

TO BOROUGH COUNCIL

The following report was presented to the Te Aroha Borough Council on Wednesday evening by the electrical engineer, Mr C. H. Dalton: Since last meeting of the Council the Power Board’s supply failed on three occasions, but only for short intervals. It was therefore unnecessary for us to bring our own plant into operation. On November 2nd the plant was run between 7.30 p.m. and 10.30 p.m. This was to enable the Te Aroha Dairy Company to run during the time stated.

NEW CONSUMERS

Since last report there have been no new consumers connected to the supply, but within the next three weeks five new installations will be ready iov connectioh.

CONDEMNED INSTALLATIONS

The Grand Hotel, Police residence, and the Court house have been rewired. Other consumers have been written to in connection with their installations, but so far nothing definite has taken place. A new service has been run to the Grand Hotel.

STREET LIGHTS

During the month only five street lights have been replaced. Several street light brackets in Herriesville, Ruakaka and Whitaker street have been rewired. In some cases it was necessary to erect a new fitting.

ALTERATIONS

Owing to the footpath between Ema and Jacksqn streets being wid-' ened it was necessary for us to remove our poles from tlie middle of the path to the curbing, and the pole in the middle of Jackson street to the footpath. Whilst carrying out this alteration the whole line was given a thorough overhaul.

SOMERSTOWN

A fair amount of time has been put in in overhauling the lines in this section. Poles have been straightened up, telephone crossings reconstructed. and service wires restrained. Two additional poles were erected and one taken out. This was necessary in order to give the necessary clearance. As soon as time permits the main lines in Terminus street will be strained up. This section will then be in good order and ready to connect to the Terminus street transformer.
