CHILDREN’S BALL
IN AID OF ST. MARK’S GUILD A GREAT SUCCESS The Children’s Fancy Dress Ball which took place in the Theatre Royal on Tuesday evening was a great success both financially and as an enjoyable spectacular event. The well thronged hall of dancers and onlookers showed that the function was a very popular one and the Guild is to be congratulated upon seeing their efforts so signally crowned with success. Onlookers were unanimous in expressions of hearty appreciation of the evening’s entertainment, and children as well as parents had a very pleasant time. It is estimated that about 250 children took part and that altogether about 500 persons were present. The proceeds amounted to about £56. The decorations were a feature of the occasion. A huge bell with multicoloured streamers was suspended from the roof of the hall, while swaying baloons of diverse hues added t» the beauty of the scene. When the children stopped dancing at 10 p.m. they were regaled with a sumptuous supper. Then the adults took the floor and they likewise spent a most enjoyable time—to which the orchestral accompaniment helped not a little.
