MOTOR ACCIDENT
A SENSATIONAL EXPERIENCE A rather sensational motor car accident occurred in Rosemont road on Saturday afternoon (states the Waihi paper). It appears that Mr Morgan, junior, a son of Mr Evan Morgan, was driving his father’s car slowly down Rosemont road. Just as the car got opposite Kenny street another car, driven by Miss Crosby, of Paeroa, suddenly put on speed, and in her endeavodr to avoid a colission Miss Crosby turned sharply down Rosemont road. The pace was too hot and the car struck Morgan’s vehicle with tremendous force, lifting it some feet from the ground and sending it right across the road. Miss Crosby’ car, still out of control, dashed into a verandah post of Mr . W. Henderson’s garage, carried it away, crossed the footpath and smashed into one of the large windows. Here it came to a standstill. Mr Morgan’s car was put out of commission by the impact, and suffered to the extent of a bent axle and a burst tyre and tube. Later Miss Crosby’s brother came to her rescue. The car, though badly damaged in the front, was not put out of commission. An explanation for the sudden rush of speed of the car driven by Miss Crosby is given by the lady herself. When the other car came into view she intended to put the brake on. Instead, however, she placed her foot on the accelerator. Immediately the car jumped forward with increased speed, and a harder jamming down with her foot made the vehicle race.
