WAIHOU DOMAIN BOARD

The annual meeting of the Waihou Domain Board was held on Saturday last at Mr W. Mace’s office. Present: Mr T. Stanley (chairman), and Messrs W. T. W. Hughes, J. B. Johnson, W. Mace and J. B. Thomas. An apology was received from Mr G. Cowley for non-attendance. After the confirmation of the minutes of the previous meeting, the annual balance sheet was submitted and adopted subject to audit. The financial position was shown as under : Total receipts, including balance brought forward, £l6B 4s. Expenditure, £sl 15s 6d ; balance in hand, £l6B 4s. Mr T. Stanley was unanimously re-elected chairman of the Board for the ensuing year. The question of draining the Board’s property came np for discussion. Mr T. W. Hughes proposed that the whole of the members inspect it. with a view to decide upon some system of drainage. Tho time of the proposed visit to be left with the Chairman and Secretary to arrange. Seconded by Mr Mace and carried. Accounts amounting to £43 10s were passed for payment.

The Board afterwards sat as the Te Aroha Cemetery Trustees. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The fact was mentioned that the holder of a plot in tho cemetery had erected a wooden structure round a grave whioh was contrary to the Cemetery By-laws and had refused to remove the same. After some discussion it was decided that the Chairman and Mr Mace interview the Board's solicitor on the matter On the motion of Mr Thomas it was resolved that the chairman Messrs Mace and Hughes visit the cemetery and have such improvements effected as they deem necessa-y. The funds disclosed that after passing accounts amounting to £43 10s there was a credit balance of £63 6s Id.
