The other four members did not seek election, aud the feur new members are Messrs Hedge, Hayworth, Mays, and Reese. Mr G Sherlock is one of the re iring members That geutleraau has boon associated with the local committee for a long number of years arid has always done yeoman service—indeed he has been looked upon for years as a very valuable member. A local baker was charged tit the S.M. Court yesterday morning with soiling short weight bread ou May 15th. Inspector Fraukliu, oross-ex-umiued by Mr Carroll, said on several occasions ho had weighed defendant's bread, but had uut fouud it short weight. Farquhai, was also granted a renewal for the Wailrou Hotel. The police reported concerning the Palace Hotel, To Aroha, that certain repairs were necessary. Mr Sharp said quotations were being obtained and the work would have attention. The renewal of the publican’s license to E. E. Harvey for this hotel was granted, subject to the repairs boing carried out. As regards the Grand Hotel, Te Aroha, the police reported that certain repairs were required. Mr b'harp intimated that the repairs would be put i:i hand at ouee. The license was granted, subject to tho repairs being effected to the satisfaction of the police.
