THE CRISIS OVER AT WESTPORT

MEN RESUMING WORK Christchurch, April 24. The managers Jof the Westport Stockton Coal Company received a telegram last night from the mine manager stating that the men held a meeting yesterday and deoided to start work to-morrow and abandon the •' go slow ” policy. This is a complete reversal of the men’s attitude, as at a recent ballot they decided unanimously in favor of striking. The decision leads the coal company officials here to believe that the miners of Millerton and Denniston will also start work. Wellington, April 24. When interviewed late last night Sir James Allen said he was unable to make any official announcement at present regarding the strike, but it is generally understood here that the crisis has passed.
