The celebration of Auzac Day has this year been somewhat bungled by the action of the Government in altering the date so as not to clash with the municipal elections. The anniversary of the world-famed landing of the Anzaea at Gallipoli is the 25th of April, and no other date for commemoration of the deeds of valor will mean the same to those who have lost their boys in the campaign. The Government requests that the day be observed on Monday, the 23rd, and between the two dates we fear the celebrations will be considerably marred. The soldiers who have returned to New Zealand are determined to observe Anzac Day on Wednesday, the 25th, and whatever arrangements are made locally we hope that preference will be given to that' day instead of Monday. In small towns, particularly, Anzac Day celebrations will not interfere in the slightest degree with the municipal elections.
