The Floods

Wairoa, April 2 News from the country districts is filtering through slowly. All the bridges on the Waikaremoana road, between Frasertown and Oku, have gone or are badly damaged. The bath houses at the Morere hot springs were carried away. Bellerby’s private hotel, late Cooper’s, built two years ago, was undermined by the river, and is hanging to the centre blocks only.
