School Cadets.

CHALLENGE SHIELD TO BE OBTAINED. On Saturday afternoon last the officers of (he various Cadet Companies n (he Ohinemuri Battalion met in the Te Aroha Schoolhouse. Those present were Major Campbell, Adjutant Day, Captains Burton, Corbett, Moor, Pocock, and Wooller

It was decided that a shield for shooting competitions be obtained, to be called the Ohinemuri Battalion Challenge Shield, and that it be competed for by teams from the individual companies. The amount to be paid towards the cost of the shield was fixed at £2 for companies and £l for detachments.

The first, local competition for the shield is to bo decided before the June holidays, and the final will be decided duiing July. It was decided that the winners may be challenged during the months of April and November, the competition to be held at place mutually agreed upon. The shield will be the property of the battalion, and will be held in trust by the winners. The names of the winners will be engraved on the shield.

In the shooting competitions each cadet will fire seveD shots at each of the three ranges, viz , 100, 150, and 200 yards, the targets to be the usual regulation size
