Wakapuaka, Sunday. Huria Matenga (Julia Martin) died suddenly yesterday at the Maori pa. She had ju.t arrived from a visit to Nelson, Decoas.-ti wasabout 70 years of age, and was known as the *• Grace Darling New Zealand. When a young girl, living with her people at Orodxellos, about 40 miles north of Nelson, the ship Delaware, helpless and disabled, eauie drifting ashore, and eventually stranded. Twenty - three souls on board found no possible means of reaching land, Huria Matenga, taking a line, swam through the surf, and passed it aboard ship, with the result that every person was saved.
