The Ngaruawahia Regatta.

Ngaruawahia, March 17. Ngaruawahia was thoroughly en fete to-day on the occasion of the annual regatta. Every excursion train to the township was packed with visitors and many hundreds of others journeyed thither in vehicles from the country districts. Altogether over 3,000 visitors must have witnessed the carnival. A larger proportion than usual were Maoris from all parts of the Waikato. The weather keeping fine, although the aspect was rather sultry and gloomy. Numerous other attractions were provided on the grounds ; side shows doing quite an immense business. The proceedings were opened by a canoe parade in which seven large boats participated.
