(Own Correspondent.) > IV kd \JSSDAY proved an ideal day for the annual school picnic, the heat being tempered with a fine easterly breeze ,aud the youngsters were early astir, the conveyances provided by Messrs Gammer, Layne, Orr, and others, had a busy time getting the eager ones to Annandde, where they received a hearty welcome from Mr and Mrs Allen and family. It proved a red letter day for the children of the Morrinsville and Waitoa schools, j and the committees and parents ciate Mr Allen’s generosity very much ip. providing such a splendid outing for them. Tables were laid under the and the good things provided receiyed every attention. A programme of sports was run off, causing much excitement, especially the teams race which was won by the girls. Cricket and other games were indulged in till towards evening, when all wended their way home tired but happy, and another pleasing day at Annandale was numbered with the past. The reputation of Mr Wallace as a signwriter and painter, has evidently proceeded him, as he already has several in hand for local bvsiness people. Mr Harvie, the minister appointed to St. Matthew's and to have charge of the Matamata district, has taken up his residence amongst us.
