Manawaru.
Own Correspondent,
A DAUGHTER of Mr George Farmer, Manawaru, met with an nasty accident on Tuesday. While playing with her sisters she had the misfortune to put her arm through a glass door, inflicting a very nasty cut. Dr. Kenuy was speedily in attendance, and dressed and stitched the wcund in a skilful manner and the little sufferer is doing as well as can be expected. The long spell of dry weather _is beginning to tell on the pastures which are beginning to bear a burnt-up appearance. The quantity of milk supplied at the cieameries has a downward tendency. A number of Manawaruites journeyed to Te Aroha on Thursday evening, to hear the famous “ Kilties Band.” They speak very highly of the performance. The roads in and about the district are in fairly good order, but there are* some works require attention before the rainy season sets in. I mention this for Supervisor Johnson’s benefit. Of course he will not be able to accomplish much now that the Council have instructed him to discharge the day labourers.
