In connection with the Cemetery * v Bridge, Mr Murphy is to be asked to c >ve r the top with a few loads of dirt to prevent it from cracking. The supervisor was instructed to see that any lumber left on the roadside, and. which was likely 1 1 prove a source of danger to horsemen, etc., be removed forthwith. —Thomson’s Track— It was resolved that the Supervisor spend the balance of the grant—over aud above the contracts let —in day labour, —Enforcing Penalties— It was resolved on the motion of Cr. Hughes, that contractors be given to understand that unless work is done within specified contract time the penalties will be strictly enforced. —Engineer— Mr Sims, Hamilton, wrote offering his services as consulting engineer to. the Council, and enclosing scale of fees.— Letter received. —Supervisor’s Report — The usual report was read from Mr W. R. Johnson, supervisor, and was of a highly satisfactory nature. With few exceptions the roads throughout the c unty arc in good order.—Decided to give effect ;’to the various suggestions made by the supervisor. , —Additional Loan— The question of an additional loan was mooted in order to properly carry out necessary work»throughout the county.— It'was the opinion of most of the Councillors that the ratepayers would not take kindly to an additional loan. —The subject then dropped. —Tramway Manager J S. Hill was appointed itramway , manager at a remuneration of £3 per | week.—lt was mentioned that there were ' no tools, whereupon Cr. Brady stated that 4 years ago there were a valuable lot of tools —License Fee—t It was resolved on the motion of Cr. Thomas to refund Mr Brunton’s £l, special license fee, taken out oh the fii’Rt day of the show, postponed on account of inclement weather. • . ( - Outstanding Rates — The Clerk was instructed to sue for all outstanding rates. - / —Bridges—j It was resolved that the Supervisor make a report on all bridges throughout 1 the country. , —Concrete Pipes—- ■ Supervisor Johnson was given authority to make 40 Concrete pipes for use on Thompson’s track. j —Accounts.— ! At the close of the ordinary meeting, a special meeting took Diace. when the necessary resolutions in connection with the levying of a rate of I-lOth of a penny in the £, to cover interest on the £5,000 Waitoa Riding Loan were passed.
