A SCOW ASHORE. CAPTAIN AND THREE MEN DROWNED. (By Telegraph—Press Aasociation.) AUOKLAiND, Thi* DayA telegram from Tairua states that a messenger from Ohui rode over on Tuesday and reported that the scow Surprise went ash jro on the rocks about a mile from the north end of the Ohui beaob, and is a total wreck. The captain' mite, and two se&mOß are supposed to be drowned. . A fifth hand got ashore and found his way to Ohui, where he is being well looked after by Mr James McGregor. He is badly knocked ab out and rambles a little in bis talk, but is expected to be well in a day or two. His natne is Harry Jackson. From what can be gathered of his account the scow dragged her anchor from Slipper Island, and went ashore on the coast early on Sunday morning. On the 28th of last month the members of the crew were as foilows J. T. Jalliere (skipper), who was taken on in place of R. W. Cliffe, who was sick when the vessel was last here. H. W. Jackson, of Norfolk Island; E. Johansen, aged 19 W. Kelly, aged 17. The last two members of the crew were signed on when the vessel was here last month, and the above list comprised the c: ew at the time she loft this port.
