BABY FARMING CASE MRS DEAN SENTENCED TO DEATH Tnvebcahgill, Saturday Judge Williams, summing up in the Dean case, occupied two hours and a half. LIBEL ACTION A BRUMMAGEM PHILANTHROPIST Napieb, June 24. The libel action of Hyman P. Cohen, Chairman of the Charitable Aid Board v. C. M. Whittington; Editor of the Waipawa Mail, claiming £2OO damages, commenced this morning. The defendant in his newspaper termed plaintiff a “ brummagem philanthropist,” hence the action. The case is likely to last a c iuple of days. EMBEZZLEMENT BY A WOMAN Napieb, June 24 At the Supreme Court Isabella Laws, for the embezzlement of funds (of the Good Templars Lodge, of which her husband was Secretary, received 12 moil tbs' hard labor, the Chief Justice declining to extend to her the benefits of the Probation Act.
