WAIORONGOMAL [From our own Correspondent.] Waiorongomai, Monday.

; Tk Aroha S. and G. M. Co. :—-Alterations are taking place daily in the internal fixings of the battery. The Pelton -wheel on the west end of the building is being removed behind the stampers, to give more space for the concentrators. The dynamo is now fitted up in the old retort house, and is ready for work. During the past week the battery has been driving five and ten head of stampers at intervals, the object being to regulate the concentrators, so that when all is ready for a i start, there may be no unnecessary delay. The automatic self-feeder, which is being erected immediately b^low the upper end of the cylinder, is about completed. The modus operandi is as follows : The concentrations will be harrowed or trucked on to the top of the matting furnace and thoroughly dried : they will then be wheeled into the feeder, and from thence carried up by an elevator belt into the cylinder. The feeder is on the principle of an egs; or hour glass, the dry sand constantly running into the elevator box and is thus carried up. During the last seven or eight days a ! gang of men have been cleaning the slips out of the water race known as " Barney's." This race wa9 completed ' by the old company but was never used by them. Inconsequence of the land slips I that took place when it was finished, the j water was backed up for a considerable distance, and eventually it carried the race away, this portion is now being i fluraed, and I expect to see the race carrying water about the end of this week. The gully that intervenes between this race and the present company's race will I understand be flumed and not piped ; one of the Company's employes, Mr Jennings, during his ramblings bavins: come across a lot of fluming iron which they knew not of. Up the hill things I understand are looking lively, both hoppers (New Find) are about full, and as the tramway is in good going order with a good supply of trucks on hand, I expect to see before very long a couple of hundred trucks a week being delivered at the Battery ; then, what with stampers, concentrators, loaster, matting furnace, and smelter all going at once, I should say, as Mark Twain does, that " things are humming." Mr Darby has already made a start to re-erect his house. A petition, asking the Warden to reserve the Army Creek for a wnter supply for this town, is being taken round this evening for signature. Touching the petition I have just heard that the Te Aroha S. and G. M. Co. have made application for the same creek as a w.iler right ; had this been generally known some people would not have signed the petition. I trust there will be no friction, i Accident fund :— The meeting which | was to have taken place at the end of I lost month respecting this affair, did not ; eventuate, and consequently ugly rumours | are already afloat, and lawyeis letters and opinions spoken of I think myself it is the committees fault, as I understand that Mr Adams is quite willing to hand over a cheque to the Treasurer, but it mn4 be in the presence of every Committee man, the difficulty is in getting the Committee together. I sincerely I hope that this matter will be amicably settled and thi>t soon.
