The bti ike of the coal miners is expected to labfc fiom three to five months. At Newcastle four hundred wharf hands have been paid off in consequence of the strike. A paitial paralysis of trade has already been experienced. The tonnage awaiting coal at Newcastle amounts to 70,000 tons. It is believed that another result of the miners' strike will be the lading up of onethud of the coastal shipping and the bhiowiii£ of 700 seamen out of employment. _ Mi LnnruNT,, August '24. The (ia» Company, in anticipation of a scarcity of coal, have reduced the ga^ pressure by one-half.
