SUDDEN DEATH IN NEWTON. Auckland, August 27.
William Ferris Pattkrson died suddenly at his residence in Cross-street, Newton yesterday. Patterson was 47 years of age and lived with his daughter. He carried on business as a grain merchant's agent in Queen-street, near the British Hotel. He was sick all day yesterday, and 'at 9.30 ->.m he wentto bed, when he appeared to oe all right. About 20 minutes past two o'clock Miss Patterson was awakened by hearing her father calling, when she at once got up, lit a candle, and proceeded to her father's room. He did not then appear to be breathing. She immediately called up a neighbour, named Mrs Brown, who sent for Dr. Bond. When that gentleman arrived he pronounced life to be extinct.
