A GENTLEMANLY WIFE-BEATER.

Before Toignmonth Magistrates two charges of assault lias been preferred against Mr Hugh Trcvcrnnion by his wife, who is a daughter of Sir Daniel Cooper. The defendant* and his wife re&ide at Teignmouth and it was alleged that he had squandered her money and cruelly treated her blackening her eyes. The Bench sentenced defendant to three week's imprisonment upon each charge. Notice of appeal was given.
