Lord Randolph Churchill, addressing a Conservative meeting at Newcastle, on the 22nd inst., took occasion to reply to the charges made by Mr Gladstone against the Unionist Party and the Irish Executive. Ho denied Mr Gladstone's accusation that the Unionists had had recourse to coercion on insufficient grounds, and ia proof thereof he referred to the history of several coercive laws which had been enforced. The charge that union— •sts had pledged themselves not to rej[ .oil to extitfme measure, he declared to be unfounded. In criticising the atti_ tude of Mr Gladstone towards the police, he attributed this onslaught upon the conptabulavly to Mr Gladstone's alliance with the 1 evolutionary party whose views were. affected. If disorder and anarchy took place, if the authoiity of the laws were to be disturbed by future political dodges, he predicted the decay of the material prosperity of England. The speaker alluded to the statement made by Mr Gladstone that he (Mr Gladstone) approved of the National League because it was different In its organisation from the Land League, against which he had passed an Act when in office, Lo-.d Randolph Churchill, however pointed to the speech made by Mr ])avitl la^t week declaring that tt e National League was identical with its predecessor the Land League.
